release date Oct. 18, 2011
second book in the Virals series
genre- Mystery/action
(shelfari) (amazon) (goodreads)
Rating- 4

Ever since Tory Brennan and her friends rescued Cooper, a kidnapped wolf pup with a rare strain of canine parvovirus, they've turned from regular kids into a crime-solving pack. But now the very place that brought them together - the Loggerhead Island Research Institute - is out of funding and will have to shut down. That is, unless the Virals can figure out a way to save it.

So when Tory learns of an old Charleston legend about a famous she-pirate, Anne Bonney, whose fortune was never found, she can't believe her luck - buried treasure is exactly what she needs to save the Institute on Loggerhead! Trouble is, she and her friends aren't the only ones looking for it. And this time, the Virals' special powers may not be enough to dig them out of trouble . . .

The Viral's series is awesome and seizure is a great second. I think that its hard to start back up with the same series when you've tied a lot of the ends off, but i think Reiches did an excelent job! The mystery in Seizure was unique and incredable, and I have to give props to these mystery writers, some how they build up these seems that it seems they could never get out of, and in a series of strategic moves they solve every thing and it ends up all falling into place, awesome. The adventure was enthralling and the mystery was so twisty, always keeping me guessing. There was obviously lots of research and lots of effort put into the plot.

Tory was wonderful as always, stubborn but resourceful, and good at keeping her friends motivated. Shelton and Hi always make me laugh, and even brooding Ben made me smile. There was a little bit of romance goting on between Tory and Ben, Tory and Jason, and maybe even Tory and Chance? (lol, go tory! even if she is literally the only girl on the island :D )

I also like the supernatural aspects of Virals, How tory and her friends have enhanced abilities, It took a normal story and gave it a great edge, It reminds me of Max ride and is just super entertaining. I like watching tory and her friends figure out how to control things and is what really makes the book spectacular.

and of course the ending was great, and a book is ruined if it has a bad ending. It tied things up, but im sure that there will be more novels in the series. I love how each book has kind of a different story line, theres no cliff hanger endings, which is nice for a change. and I'll totally read the next ones.

happy Monday!

Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi

Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi
published by Harper Teen
338 pages
Genre- dystopian, supernatural
Rating- 5

Juliette hasn't touched anyone in exactly 264 days.

The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette's touch is fatal. As long as she doesn't hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don't fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.

The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war-- and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she's exactly what they need right now.

Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.

Shatter me was definitely different. In a good way. although I'm not sure I would compare it to the hunger games, lol. (the dystopian-ness was more like that of The Quillian games, which I read way back when) Non the less it was very good. I was reading it in history during a free time, and my history teacher asked what it was about, after i told him he was like "LIKE ROUGE!" Then went into a xman tangent that took up 15 min of class time. needless to say my classmates were pleased.

And so was I. The book was written with a unique perspective, almost like were reading Juliette's journal. Her inner most thoughts are displayed blatantly, and my heart went out for her. She honestly thought that she was a monster. Her emotions were a roller coaster throughout the novel. Before she got moved to the asylum her parents hated her. her classmates were hostile, although she was nothing but nice. Everyone told her she was a monster, and after the accident and the three years in the asylum with out any human contact at all, Juliette's mental stage was quite fragile. However she grew increasingly stronger as the novel progressed. The entire novel was through Juliette's perspective, and it was amazing to see her grow as a person. And Mafi did this really int resting thing where Juliette would strike through her thoughts or words and change it from what she was really thinking or wanting to say, to what she felt she was supposed to be thinking or saying. (its hard to explain unless you've read it.)

Adam the second protagonist (and love interest) was great to, although at first he was quite mysterious. He was like Juliette's rock. A tie to her old life and a promise for the future. although he seemed almost too perfect, or just maybe lovestruck.... although I still love him non the less.

Warner was my fave definitely. He reminded me much of Cain from the
Gone Novels (and i very much love Cain also)  He seemed the most genuine of them all. even if he was slightly evil.

Solid plot, good ending, steady writing style, and great characterisation. It gets a 5 from me! I cant wait for the next!

Embrace the awesomeness!

Shift by Jeri Smith-Ready

Shift by Jeri Smith-Ready
Published by Simon Pulse
pages- 384
sequel to Shade
Genre- Supernatural
(amazon) (Goodreads) (shelfari)
Rating- 3.5

summery from goodreads-

Aura’s life is anything but easy. Her boyfriend, Logan, died, and his slides between ghost and shade have left her reeling. Aura knows he needs her now more than ever. She loves Logan, but she can’t deny her connection with the totally supportive, totally gorgeous Zachary. And she’s not sure that she wants to.
Logan and Zachary will fight to be the one by her side, but Aura needs them both to uncover the mystery of her past—the mystery of the Shift.
As Aura’s search uncovers new truths, she must decide whom to trust with her secrets…and her heart.

hmm. Shift was good. The only suckish thing was that i had totally forgotten a ton of the stuff that had happened in Shade, the first book. (other then general plot and such) I liked how Aura and Zach could sort of switch powers, and how Logan figured out how to have a human body. even if it was for only 15 minutes. Smith-Ready really pumped up the supernatural stuff, and thickened the plot loads.

and the ending was pretty good too. although I'm not quite sure what will happen in the next book in the series, there was no big cliff hanger.

I only gave it a 3.5 cause although it was a good ghost paranormal book, it just wasn't the best thing I've ever read, don't get me wrong though, I'm sure that there are tons of people who would love the novel, It just isn't my favorite...

Have a nice day!
